Compared to last week, much heavier receipts this week with 400-500 lb steer calves selling with a higher undertone on last week's light offering, 500-600 lbs steers sold firm to 5.00 higher, 600-650 lbs sold steady with 650-800 lbs trading with a firm to higher undertone, 800-850 lb steers sold with a firm undertone on similar comparison with last week and 850-900 lb steers traded 2.00-3.00 lower. Feeder heifers weighing 400-600 lbs sold mostly 5.00-8.00 lower, spots 10.00 lower on the 450-500 lb heifers and over 600 lbs had few comparisons with last week. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate to heavy, best demand was on steer calves weighing 400-700 lbs. Good offering of good quality steer calves and yearlings over 700 lbs. May corn jumped 14 1/2 cents with December corn up 18 1/2 cents as the sharp rise in crude oil helps to fuel the flame on corn values. Despite corn values buying interest on feeder cattle overall continues to hold up very well. Slaughter cows sold fully steady to firm.
