Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 400-500 lbs sold 10.00-25.00 higher, with 500-700 lbs trading 10.00-15.00 higher, the best test on the pot loads of yearling steers were weighing 885-920 lbs and sold 3.00-8.00 higher. Heifer calves weighing 400-450 lbs sold 10.00-20.00 higher, with 450-600 lbs selling firm to 10.00 higher, pot load of heifers weighing 636 lbs sold with a higher undertone. Demand was very good, (exuberant) on a heavy offering of top quality calves and yearlings, many selling in large groups, strings and pot loads. Stick out sales included two pot loads steers 822-849 lbs at 308.50-311.00, pot load 851 lbs 311.75, 120 hd 886 lbs at 298.00, pot load 919 lbs 292.50 and pot load heifers weighing 636 lbs at 337.75. Fed cattle market again continues to make new highs each week as feeders follow. Suspended cattle imports from Mexico prompted a sharp rally in the CME Cattle Futures with Feeder Cattle seeing sharp gains from 5.00-6.00 all giving support to and active market. Large offering of slaughter steers and heifers (included 4 pot loads) traded with a higher undertone with slaughter cows trading near steady.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
