As filed

No recently tested market for a true comparison but some similar sales to 4 weeks ago traded mostly 2.00 to 4.00 lower. Slaughter cows 1.00 to 4.00 lower. This week's sale featured over 20 straight loads, highlighted by a 540 head consignment of heifers from a local reputation backgrounder. Buyers have backed up a bit on the big yearling cattle the last couple weeks given the lower fat market and cattle futures that haven't given any support either. We're still feeling the effects of the spring backlog in the form of elevated carcass weights which packers have worked to their favor. Demand was good, just at lower price levels, with the bulk of the yearling load lots headed to either Iowa or Nebraska. Supply heavy.
