Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last Tuesday, feeder steers and heifers 2.00-5.00 higher except a few steers under 500 lbs steady. Slaughter cows 2.00-3.00 lower. Demand good to very good. Supply moderate. Feeder offering was dominated by a family consignment of 500+ head of high quality reputation cattle including 6 full loads of steers weighing 647-779 lbs. The cash feeder index is still trending a bit higher with the combination of higher fed futures and cheap feed costs creating more space between purchase price and breakeven price.
