Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last Tuesday, feeder steers steady to 4.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 475 lbs 3.00-5.00 lower following last weeks sharp advance, over 475 lbs 2.00-7.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady. Demand good. Supply moderate. Several consignments of good quality new crop calves this week. The feeder market continues to gain strength with very tight numbers and fed cattle prices near historic highs. Meanwhile cattle futures are slipping so far this week with oil production cuts bringing talk of recession and energy inflation back to the forefront.
