Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 700 lbs traded 3.00 to 7.00 higher while lightly tested heavier weight calves traded 3.00-6.00 lower. Demand was good on a light supply. Steers averaged 580 lbs at $141.49/cwt while heifers averaged 537 lbs at $131.15/cwt. Abundant moisture and higher temperatures have the grass growing faster than the cattle can graze, increasing the demand for calves ready to turn out.
