Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 700 lbs. sold steady in a lightly tested market. Better tested seven and eight weight feeder steers and heifers sold 2.00-4.00 higher. Demand was good on a light supply. The largest draft of the day was 133 head of 803 lb steers which brought 256.00/cwt. Storms this past weekend kept receipts lighter than expected as many are still cleaning up downed trees, repairing fences and dealing with no electricity. This week's forecast is for drier weather which is allowing hay harvest to get started. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report, released Friday, reported Inventories were down 1 percent, Placements were down 6 percent and Marketings were up 10 percent.
