Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold 2.00-4.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves sold 6.00-12.00 higher with spots 16.00 higher. Demand was very good on a moderate supply. The market was very active with the best demand that has been seen in several weeks. The quality was above average with several larger drafts of long-time weaned and vaccinated calves. The largest draft of the day was 68 head of 835 lb. steers which brought 242.00/cwt. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report, released Friday, was neutral and closely matched projected estimates. It reported Inventories were 1 percent higher, Placements 1 percent lower and Marketings 4 percent lower than last month.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
