Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last Wednesday, feeder steers and heifers under 500 lbs steady, over 500 lbs 2.00-6.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady. Demand good to very good. Supply moderate. August live cattle futures jumped 3.40 points Wednesday as the market narrative of large summer fed supplies and a belt tightening consumer was forced to give ground to demand that is still proving strong enough to keep slaughter aggressive and carcass weights manageable. The feedlot trade looks to be modestly higher this week from 136.00-143.00/cwt. November feeder cattle are back to the 180.00/cwt mark while oil also continues to trend higher.
