As filed

Compared to the previous auction two weeks ago, feeder steers sold 15.00-20.00 higher and feeder heifers sold 25.00-30.00 higher. The supply was moderate with the majority of the offering being on the thinner side of flesh conditions and reflecting the dry conditions and limited forage in the area. Demand was good to very good and bidding was quite active throughout the day as buyers aggressively worked to fill orders. Questions of weaning and shots were asked repeatedly though out the day as new owners try to limit their risk as much as possible given current price levels. Producers that do the work continue to be rewarded however and smiles were big as consignors walked out of the office looking at their pay checks. In feedlot country the fed cattle market set new all-time record highs last week and boxed beef cutouts are climbing as the summer grilling demand in full swing now. Despite continued heavy supplies of cull cows as many producers look to thin herds and try to save as much grass as possible the market for cull cows continues to climb as lean beef is in high demand. Slaughter cows sold 10.00 higher.
