Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week: Steer calves sold mostly 20.00 to 25.00 lower. Yearling steers 15.00 to 20.00 lower. Heifer calves and yearlings 20.00 to 25.00 lower with instances up to 50.00 lower. Demand moderate on all offerings even more so on heifer calves which showed sales of up to $60-$70/cwt back of the steers on occasion. Not the most solid week to week comparison due to plainer quality this week and cattle not as clean with reports of some consignors not bringing their stock due to muddy conditions. Not as many trailer and pot loads this week which made it take longer for a buyer to get multiple loads procured. Smaller strings of mixed cattle showed up throughout the sale. CME feeder cattle futures hammered again today continuing a much weaker trend this week for the entire cattle complex.
