Compared to last week, light weight calves sold steady to 4.00 higher and calves over 600 lbs sold 4.00 to 8.00 lower. Not enough yearlings for a market comparison. Slaughter cattle sold steady. This week's sale was the 40th anniversary of the Hunter family owning Crawford Livestock Market and also was a qualifier for the LMA auctioneer contest. The top 10 individuals move on the compete for the title of World Livestock Auctioneer. Demand was moderate to good throughout the day. Receipts were shorten by roughly 3000 head as a winter storm with ice and snow blew through the region Thursday making back country roads slick and muddy and cattle couldn't make it to town. Special weigh-up auction Thursday October 17 and Special Calf and Feeder auction Friday October 17.
