Compared to last week: best test on yearling steers 900 to 949 lbs 4.00 lower, other weight classes of yearling steers and heifers not well compared. Few good comparisons on calves, lower undertones noted on both steer and heifer calves. Moderate to good demand for yearling cattle, light to moderate for calves. A large offering of yearlings today with the majority still coming off grass, including a string of 1200 very green steers. Most yearlings sold in strings and loads and quality varied, from plain to attractive. A lighter offering of calves than last week, all coming off the cow. Varied preconditioning, but most had at least one good round of shots. Flesh ranged from light to moderate plus with a little heavy flesh at times. A moderate to active market on yearlings, moderate on calves. There is a huge amount of uncertainty in the industry right now fueled by the recent decline of the futures complex. A few less farmer feeders in the seats this week as they are determined to finish harvesting. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, November 13.
