Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last sale 05/28/2020: Feeder steers and heifers 1.00-3.00 higher for current delivery and most of the trades occurring in the South Central regions. Many of the trades were cattle coming off grass to deliver later this summer or calves for fall delivery. Demand moderate for most classes, mostly light for split drafts of cattle. Wheat harvest is in full swing in the south and hot dry conditions are helping the progress. Slaughter cattle sold cheaper this week as Boxed Beef prices continues to decline. Prices FOB based on net weights after a 2-3 percent pencil shrink or equivalent, with a 4-8 cent slide on yearlings and 8-12 cent slide on calves. Current deliveries are cattle that will deliver up to 14 days from the last sale day of the video. Current delivery is through June 25, 2020. Deliveries are Current to December 2020.

Source: USDA AMS · Oklahoma City, OK. Prices are as filed, F.O.B. at origin, with the buyer taking freight — they are not comparable to a spot ring price and never enter a barn average. Weights are USDA’s estimates — these cattle had not been weighed when they sold. Delivery months differ between lots; a price for one month is not a price for another. Head is summed from the lots as reported.
