Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Feeder cattle and calves lightly tested for Current FOB delivery, however a steady undertone is noted. Demand moderate for feeder cattle. The dreaded October is near and Unweaned calves to deliver then, showed a much weaker undertone noted as well. Beef prices continue to decline and the slaughter cattle market seems stagnant. Fall is around the corner and hopefully this will encourage more grilling as cooler days move in. Receipts included 60 percent from South Central; 14 percent North Central; 14 percent South East, 12 Percent West and 0 percent Northeast, Current deliveries are cattle that will deliver up to 14 days from the last sale day of the video and is up to and including October 07, 2021. Deliveries are Current thru Jan 2022.

Source: USDA AMS · Oklahoma City, OK. Prices are as filed, F.O.B. at origin, with the buyer taking freight — they are not comparable to a spot ring price and never enter a barn average. Weights are USDA’s estimates — these cattle had not been weighed when they sold. Delivery months differ between lots; a price for one month is not a price for another. Head is summed from the lots as reported.
