Compared to the last sale on 02/10/22: Bulk of the trades occurring in the South Central region again this sale. Feeder steers and heifers mostly traded1.00-6.00 lower in most regions other than in the North Central region trading fully steady on limited comparable trades. Steer and heifer calves sold sharply lower instances as much as 15.00-18.00 lower following the last sales sharply higher market. Demand light for calves, light to moderate for feeder cattle on a Current FOB Basis. A strong winter storm has swept across the Mid-West bringing single digit temperatures and several inches of snow and ice. Since the last sale Corn and wheat prices have gone sharply higher raising cost of gain and making feeder cattle much softer and buyers much more selective. Source: USDA AMS · Oklahoma City, OK. Prices are as filed, F.O.B. at origin, with the buyer taking freight — they are not comparable to a spot ring price and never enter a barn average. Weights are USDA’s estimates — these cattle had not been weighed when they sold. Delivery months differ between lots; a price for one month is not a price for another. Head is summed from the lots as reported.
