Compared to the last sale on 02/25/22: Bulk of the trades occurring in the South Central region again this sale. Feeder steers and heifers mostly traded 8.00-10.00 lower in most all regions other than in the North Central region trading steady to 2.00 lower on limited comparable trades. Steer and heifer calves sold 4.00-6.00 lower few trades sharply lower as trucking rates have escalated after diesel and gas prices have risen. This has caused buyers to be more cautious. Winter weather is expected over the Midwest this weekend. Demand light for calves, light to moderate for feeder cattle on a Current FOB Basis. Supply included 70 percent South Central; 12 percent North Central; 10 percent South East; 7 percent West and about 1 percent North East. Current deliveries are cattle that will deliver 14 days from the date of the sale and are up to and including March 24, 2022. Deliveries are current thru October 2022.

Source: USDA AMS · Oklahoma City, OK. Prices are as filed, F.O.B. at origin, with the buyer taking freight — they are not comparable to a spot ring price and never enter a barn average. Weights are USDA’s estimates — these cattle had not been weighed when they sold. Delivery months differ between lots; a price for one month is not a price for another. Head is summed from the lots as reported.
