Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last sale 06/7-8/2023: Feeder steers and heifers lightly tested for current FOB delivery, however a definite lower undertone is noted. Demand good but several days of sharply lower cattle futures has slowed the bullish trade in feeder cattle. Grain futures moving higher, thus cattle futures trading lower. Cash slaughter cattle trade not established for the week. Meanwhile, beef prices continue to move higher. Please Note: Today's sale also includes just under 600 head from the Holstein Auction on Wednesday. Supply included 91 percent South Central; 4 percent North Central; 3 percent South East; and 1 percent North East. Current delivery is 14 days from the last day of the video sale and is up to and including June 29, 2023. Deliveries are current thru December 2023.

Source: USDA AMS · Oklahoma City, OK. Prices are as filed, F.O.B. at origin, with the buyer taking freight — they are not comparable to a spot ring price and never enter a barn average. Weights are USDA’s estimates — these cattle had not been weighed when they sold. Delivery months differ between lots; a price for one month is not a price for another. Head is summed from the lots as reported.
