Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week, feeders under 600 lbs. sold steady to 5.00 lower over 600 lbs. sold steady to 3.00 higher. The supply was moderate with the majority of calves weaned and with shots. Demand was good. Slaughter cows sold steady on a heavy supply. Producers continue to reduce cow herds and market calves early as over all market prices remain good even with the slight declines the last couple of weeks. Lack of pasture and feed concerns are the main topic of conversation and the reason many cattle are coming to town. Some rain has fallen since the last sale amounts have varied and much more is needed to really provide any substantial change to current conditions.
