Compared to last week: Fed steers 2.00 to 5.00 higher, heifers steady to 1.00 higher. Holsteins 1.00 to 5.00 lower. Demand for this nice offering of cattle was good. Black hide, grade and cleanliness really drew interest from buyers with the biggest factor being grade. Consumers are driving the demand for high grading, special cuts of beef with good flavor. Estimated dressed cost 270.00 - 275.00. In the last 4 weeks beef production has averaged 6.4% lower compared to the same period last year, steer slaughter 5.3% lower, 1.6% on heifers, cow slaughter 6.8% lower and bulls 14.6% lower from the same time year over year. CME Live Cattle and Corn both closed higher. Slaughter cows and bulls 5.00 to 8.00 lower.

Traditional weight slaughter lambs 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Demand for this nice offering was good. Buyers were very interested in lighter weight lambs today. Black face ewes continue to be in high demand. 60 lbs - 80 lbs see the most bidders trying to win the last call. Slaughter ewes Good 2-3 & 4-5 5.00 to 15.00 higher, Utility 10.00 to 12.00 lower, Cull to few to make a meaningful comparison.
